Read

What goes into someone’s mouth does not defile them, but what comes out of their mouth, that is what defiles them.”

(Matthew 15:11)

Pray

Dear God,

You are the source of all wisdom and truth, and I come before You today with a humble heart. Your word in this verse reminds me that it is not what goes into my mouth that defiles me, but what comes out of it. I pray for the strength and wisdom to guard my tongue and to speak words of love, kindness, and encouragement to others. Help me to use my words to build up and not tear down, to bring life and not destruction.

I ask for Your forgiveness for the times when I have spoken words that have hurt others or caused division. Give me the grace to speak with love and compassion, and to always reflect Your character in the words I speak. Thank You for Your guidance and for the transforming power of Your Holy Spirit working in me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
