September 28 – Evening

Read

And as they were stoning Stephen, he called out, ‘Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.’ And falling to his knees he cried out with a loud voice, ‘Lord, do not hold this sin against them.’ And when he had said this, he fell asleep.

(Acts 7:59-60)

Pray

Dear God,

You are a God of compassion and mercy, and I come before You in prayer, asking for the strength and courage to forgive those who have wronged me, just as Your faithful servant Stephen did in this verse. Help me to release the burden of anger and bitterness from my heart, and instead, fill it with Your love and grace. I pray that You would give me the ability to see others through Your eyes, and to extend forgiveness as a reflection of Your forgiveness in my own life.

I also pray for those who have hurt me, that they may come to know Your love and seek Your forgiveness as well. Help me to embody Your example of selfless forgiveness, and to live in peace with those around me. Thank You for Your never-ending grace and mercy, and may I be a vessel of Your love to those around me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
