September 22 – Noon

Read

But I tell you that anyone who is angry with a brother or sister will be subject to judgment. Again, anyone who says to a brother or sister, ‘Raca,’ is answerable to the court. And anyone who says, ‘You fool!’ will be in danger of the fire of hell.

(Matthew 5:22)

Pray

Dear God,

You have taught us through the words of Jesus in this verse that harboring anger and bitterness in our hearts is just as detrimental as expressing it with our words. Help me to not only control my tongue, but also to examine my heart and rid it of any feelings of contempt or hurt towards others. Fill me with Your love and compassion so that I may be quick to forgive and slow to anger, just as You are with us.

Grant me the strength to walk in Your ways and to be a peacemaker in all my relationships. May my words and actions reflect Your grace and mercy, and may I bring healing and reconciliation wherever there is division. Thank You for Your unending patience and kindness towards me, and I pray for Your continued guidance in living out this teaching in my life.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.
